Here are the 5 questions you should ask your photographer before you and your family head into a family photography session. These 5 questions for your photographer will help save you time and money on your next lifestyle photography session.
How long have you been in business?
This will tell you a lot about your photographers experience and if they can handle difficult situations as they may arise
Do you specialize in any one type of photography?
Not all photographers are created equal. A portrait studio photographer may not be the best choice to bring to a wedding where the setting and light is constantly changing from inside to outside at a moments notice.
Do you have many repeat clients?
Maybe one of the best questions here, this really tells you about the quality and life of their work as well as the photographers customer service.
Are there policies for rescheduling a session?
Being that photography sessions are very often affected by weather, health and a multitude of other factors, ask your photographer what you will do if the situation for rescheduling arises.
Have you had any experience with (name your specific concern)?
If you believe you have any special circumstances surrounding your photo session it is important both to ask and prepare your photographer for how they may approach a certain situation.
** Not so much a question but a simple gut feeling: personality and rapport matters.
What is your gut feeling you get about the photographer, usually based on their social media presence or referrals from family and friends.
How long have you been in business?
I started as a professional photographer in 2008, so it’s been a few minutes (or years)! I have tried a few other professions in between, but have always stuck with photography and just can’t shake my desire to capture real authentic moments in time!
Do you specialize in any one type of photography?
Yes. I specialize in capturing moments of life that go by so quick and before you know it you can’t catch them anymore. Many people will call this lifestyle photography or documentary photography. This is where my passion lies, both through wedding photography and family photography!
Do you have many repeat clients?
Oh yes! They are my favorite kind too! They already know me and trust me and their kids can be themselves with me. I love making these lifelong relationships through my work and watching people grow and change into the people and families they were meant to be.
Are there policies for rescheduling a session?
I am willing to discuss any special circumstances with clients who are booked (and deposits paid) and to reschedule as needed that will work with both of our schedules.
Have you had any experience with (name your specific concern)?
As a seasoned and experienced photographer I have been able to handle many different situations. Please let me know and and all special concerns.
Not so much a question but a simple gut feeling: personality and rapport matters.
Well I don’t know that I can answer this question about myself, but you can connect with me on my Facebook or Instagram pages to see the real me! Please do! I really love meeting new people!
