Family Narrative

I love being able to tell stories through pictures. I got my bachelors degree in fine art and I learned so much about stories and images there. A lot can be said through just one picture without any words. I’ve been thinking about what I love about photography and I really love telling stories through pictures. I love stories and I want to tell your story. I want to come to your house on Saturday morning for pancakes. I want to join you on your trip to the library for story time. I want to be at your home when you give your new baby her first bath. I want come with you to Kroger when you do your weekly shopping with 4 kids in tow. I want to come to your child’s baseball game to capture the up and downs of the sport.  There are so many “normal” memories worth capturing.

Whatever your family story is today I want to help you and your kids remember it through pictures. If you are like me, I feel like half of my childhood is remembered through a picture that was taken.

Our meanings are almost always inseparable from stories, in all realms of life. . . family stories, invisible as air, weightless as dreams, are there for us. To make our own meanings out of our myriad stories is to achieve balance–at once a way to be part of and apart from our families, a way of holding on and letting go.
~Elizabeth Stone

What I’m proposing is that I can come and photograph your normal every day joys and trials so that when you and your children look back on
their childhood. The stories and memories that can shape and define child.
