Full Sun Photos ~ Ohio Maternity

I really loved this set of Athens Ohio maternity photos that were shot in the full sun of a sunny afternoon and evening. Its an honor to get to photograph another photographers family and I was up for the challenge to photograph in the part of spring that has zero shade! I love that Alicia trusts me to make memories for her own family. I photographed her wedding and engagement in 2020 and now they are expecting their first baby.

We did these sunny maternity photos on their property that is just outside of Athens Ohio. They have the most beautiful fields and woods with a creek and all. This time we got to drive around in a ATV instead of walking.

It can be challenging for a photographer to capture photos in the full sun on a day like this. The results can be worth it though! A few tips are to keep the clients faces in the shade, so face them away from the sun. If you do want to face them toward the sun you can get some really brilliant colors. Like the photos I have in the field, with the beautiful blue sky. The trick here is that I had the clients look at each other so that I’m not seeing squinty eyes.

I so often seek shade out for my photos, but when its not available then a photographer in Ohio has to use what is available to them.
